Happy 1/1/10 – Redux!

So a few days ago, I posted some screenshots of a new map I’ve been working on. It’s come to my attention that there are some problems with the shots, including:

  • They’re pretty dark
  • Some of the texturing/architecture is pretty crappy
  • It’s a lot better now!

Which begs the question: What’s the point in starting the new year off on the wrong foot, especially when it can be corrected? I sure can’t think of any good reason! So, to make up for those subpar shots I showed before, here are some (hopefully) better ones of the same map! It’s in a lot better shape than it was a couple of days ago: it has a new theme, several weak areas have been redone, and a lot more of it’s been detailed now (whereas only a few rooms had before).

    This project is shapeing up to be something that i am hopeing for a next genre quake/doom game. i do hope this finds a publisher why not digtal distrobution

    @Slyor64: Thanks! But I don’t think we’ll be hiring beta testers any time soon.

    @Kamakazi: We’ll do digital distribution, but the idea with getting a publisher is that it we’d get support from them during development, so we’d be able to actually hire people, get an office, etc. It’s not a must, but it would certainly be nice.

  6. A 2nd New Year’s?! This seems like it would be grounds for some sort of anomalous black hole appearing out of nowhere to kill us all.

    I’m digging the structures you’ve got going on in here. It looks good within in the theme of texturing and lighting your using. But it also looks incredibly gray :P. I know it’s not your fault though…it’s those fugly UT2K4 textuers! Argh >:( . I was going to suggest maybe ripping out the Warsow textures and using them (since it’s a cel-shaded game and it would better represent the cel-shaded look we’re going for). I can possibly set that up later on if you’d like.

    Heheh, but seriously, it’s shaping up quite well! Nice work so far. Also a bit of news from me; I should be able to get on IRC this weekend. God willing :lol:

    Thanks! :) Yeah, it’s definitely a lot of gray. That’s exactly what I was thinking when I wrote the “See you again in a few days after I correct all of the problems with this batch of shots!” line :lol: There’s some more colorful areas (including one I just tweaked), but they’re just not included in this batch of shots.

    The texture situation is fine for the moment. I just have one more map to do before I start talking to publishers. No sense in screwing with the texturing this late in the game.
