Merry Christmahanakwanzika!

Well, with the holiday season here, what better to celebrate this time of giving than with a new batch of screenshots! We’ve all been hard at work trying to finish up the alpha of Last Bastion (which is actually getting close to being finished!), and now have a bunch of screenshots for you from the second map of the game, E1M1 (though that may change considering how thoroughly confusing that is). Enjoy! :)

I concur, the lighting looks very nice. I really like the structures shown off in the first shot as well as the new skin on the sentry bot too. All looking very cool gentlemen :D

Sooo…is there an E1M0? That’s the only thing I can guess

Sorry it took me a while to comment. I had to go buy a new keyboard because I jizzed all over mine. Great looking game!!

Nah, the first map in the episode is E1INTRO, which is that building tops one. I might just change that to E1M1, and then bump every other map up a slot. That probably works best.

    Also, thanks everyone :D

Everything is gray! Can you use more colour variations? Look at Doom’s E1M1, wide range or greens, blues, browns.

Here, it’s grey… I see you’ve tried to spice things up with the lighting (which looks great BTW) but essentially, everything is still gray.

I’m thinking of adding some colourful carpets and windows to a colourful sky. Various types of metal for walls.

There’s a lot of green, bright green (the nukage), tans, and yellows, too. For the most part it’s pretty desaturated, but that’s how Doom is, too. The objects though are a lot more saturated – the monsters, weapons, items, etc.

Certainly there could be more variation, but it’s a start, right? :)

Seeing as how this is just one map of one episode, I think the current color scheme is just fine. You’ve got other color tones to work with in future maps. So I’m sure we’ll eventually see some desaturated browns, greens, etc etc as more maps are made. As long as grey isn’t the only base color for every map (and I’m sure it’s not planned to be), it should be just fine ;)

Also lol at the spamboy copying my original post

While it is mostly gray, the map structure and detailing emanate a sort of industrial feeling. The monsters also feel slightly out of place, but being alien, they should feel like that. Overall, it’s looking pretty nice.
